Rhodes Talks Mizzou Visit, Decision Nears

Three-Star Blue Valley (KS) offensive tackle Clay Rhodes made an unofficial visit to Missouri on Thursday to watch the Tigers in action during spring football practice. He shares his thoughts on the day, plus tells us when a decision is likely to happen.

On Thursday the Missouri Tigers had Blue Valley (KS) Stilwell OT Clay Rhodes 6'6" 265 at their final spring practice on an unofficial visit. ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Rhodes following his visit to get his thoughts.

"It was awesome!" said Rhodes of his trip to Columbia. "We got there around 10:30 and I got to meet with the coaches and talk to my position coaches, Coach Walker and Coach Henson. Then I toured around campus and got to see a lot more then my last visit to Mizzou. Then we headed back over to the athletic complex and they wrapped up position and film meetings and I went to watch the scrimmage."

Rhodes enjoyed the practice he witnessed, and had some company while he was there.

"I watched the tackles a lot and learned a lot about how Missouri uses their offensive lineman. We run basically the same offense at my high school, but this was a lot more advanced. It gave me a good idea of what I could expect if I played here. I also got a chance to hang out with Alec Ablen, who I met here on a previous visit and is committed to Mizzou. We hung out and talked for about an hour. It was fun just being up there. I feel extremely comfortable when I am there. I felt like I was family and part of the team already. The coaches and players are great and really make you feel that way," said Rhodes.

Apparently, Clay has developed a friendship with Missouri commits Harneet Gill and Chase Abbington, and said that they all talk frequently.

Clay also informed me that he has narrowed his list of schools to four.

"My top 4 schools are Missouri,Kansas State, Tulsa and Kansas," Rhodes said. "They all offer something special and different, but my visits to Mizzou are crazy, and none of my other visits have compared to Mizzou. They are my top school right now."

And has he also narrowed his timeline for making a decision?

"I plan on making a commitment within the next two weeks,"said Rhodes.

ShowMeMizzou.com will keep you updated on Clay Rhodes recruitment and his upcoming decision.
