The Missouri Tigers have a number of players on their roster from the Dallas area, and have gone back to the Metroplex to extend an offer to 2013 WR prospect Marcell Ateman 6'4" 197 Wylie (TX) East. ShowMeMizzou.com spoke wiith the talented two-sport athlete, and he talked about the Missouri offer, and his interest in the Tigers.
"Missouri's a good solid program," said Ateman. "They recruit good players. They've been an elite program. I like Missouri."
Ateman plays both basketball and football. He said that he's been speaking with Missouri Assistant Coach Bruce Walker. He said that he wants to visit Missouri, and he expressed serious interest in Missouri, but he doesn't have a definite date scheduled for a visit."
"We're going to try to make it up there," explained Ateman. "I'm going to try to plan a date with my dad, to see when is the best time to go."
Missouri has been recruiting Ateman for a while, and he said that he knows some of the players on the Missouri team from the Dallas area. He also said that he knows Phil Pressey, who plays basketball at Missouri, and incoming freshman Dorial Green-Beckham. He wants to learn more about Missouri.
Ateman holds a number of offers, including Arizona, Baylor, Iowa State, Michigan, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, Purdue, Tennessee, Texas Tech, Virginia, and Washington State, in addition to Missouri.
Ateman said that he would like to choose a school by the time his senior season gets underway, but doesn't have a specific time-table. He attributes rebounding the basketball with helping him with his pass-catching ability. He reports a 35" vertical jump, and has been timed at 4.5 seconds in the forty.
Ateman cited getting to know the coaches and the overall atmosphere of the program and campus as factors to consider in choosing a school.
