"I called coach Cornell Ford about an hour ago an told him I wanted to commit to the Tigers," said Thompson."I am going to make it official on Monday by telling Coach Pinkel, but I wanted to do it now and let him know."
I interviewed Antar late last season and he told me then about his Missouri offer and that he wanted to attend Mizzou because it was the home state school. He seems to have followed through on that.
"Missouri coaches came to my school on Tuesday and I thought about it the rest of the week and realized that I didn't need to wait. I want to stay home and be near my family and have them come see me play," said Thompson.
Antar played last season at 290lbs while playing primarily DT and some DE. He told me that the coaches have told him that he would get a chance to play some defensive end if he stayed at his new weight and with improved speed.
"My goal is to be able to play defensive end. I have dropped about 50lbs and gotten faster. So, we'll see, but I know I can also play DT as well."
Antar Thompson was the #5 prospect overall on my early top 10 in-state players list back in March.
Thompson becomes Missouri's 11th known commitment.
