Softball Commitment Update: Natalie Fleming

Coach Ehren Earleywine and the Missouri Tigers have received a verbal commitment from 2013 INF/OF Natalie Fleming of Silex (MO). gets an update from the talented softball prospect and younger sister of Missouri star Ashley Fleming.

Coach Ehren Earleywine and the Missouri Tigers have received a verbal commitment from 2013 INF/OF Natalie Fleming  5'9" 145  Silex (MO).

Natalie Fleming is the younger sister of Missouri senior Ashley Fleming.  Natalie is a right-handed thrower, and a right-handed hitter.  She appears to be similar athletically to her older sister, as well as exhibiting a similar work ethic in the classroom and on the field.

Natalie Fleming, a two-sport star in high school, chose Missouri over offers from Arkansas, South Alabama, UMSL, and others.

"Ever since Ashley committed there, I've kind of wanted to go there too,"  explained Natalie Fleming, speaking of her decision to play at Missouri.  "They're the big school in our state.  It's been kind of a dream of mine growing up.  So, Coach E came and watched a couple of my games, and then it just kind of happened from there."

She expressed relief in the knowledge that she'll be playing softball at Missouri.

As a freshman at Silex, Natalie Fleming posted a .464 BA, along with 1 HR, 14 RBIs, and a.681 slugging percentage.  As a sophomore, she batted .550, with 7 HRs, 41 RBIs, and a 1.013 slugging percentage.  During her junior year, she hit .597, with 8 HRs, 34 RBIs, and a 1.195 slugging percentage.

She is a two-time all-state selection, following her sophomore and junior seasons, and she was also named all-conference, all-district, and all-region in each of her three seasons.

Natalie Fleming has also twice been selected all-state in basketball, where she averaged over 20 points, 10 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 4.5 steals in each of the last two seasons (sophomore and junior).  Through three seasons on the court, she has scored 1504 points and pulled down 733 rebounds.

Natalie Fleming also plays softball for the St. Louis Chaos travel squad.   She pitches and plays shortstop for her high school team, but she said that she doesn't expect to pitch at Missouri.  She said that she doesn't know where she'll play in the field for the Tigers.  She's open to playing wherever she's needed.

"I can play just about anywhere,"  said Natalie Fleming.

Natalie Fleming will sign with Missouri in November.

"I'm excited about playing at Missouri,"  said Natalie Fleming.  "I hope we can keep this streak of going to the World Series going."

I'm very happy that I get to play softball for four more years,"  said Natalie Fleming.  "I love playing softball!  I do it every day."

This probably wasn't the most difficult recruitment for Coach Earleywine.   I hate to compare the younger sister to the older one, especially when the older one is an All-American.  Those would be very lofty expectations.  But, the fact that Ashley is left-handed is probably the biggest difference that I see between the two sisters as prospects coming out of high school.

It appears to me that Coach Earleywine has added another quality player to his roster in Natalie Fleming.  Coach Earleywine has picked up another quality all-around athlete, one of the top athletes from within the state, who is coachable, and who will work hard and continue to get better and better during her time at Missouri.
