Florida DT Has Missouri Visit Among His Plans

With defensive tackle being a major focus of the Missouri Tigers remaining 2013 football recruiting class, it appears as though they have made solid headway with a highly regarded DT from the Sunshine State.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with another defensive line prospect who reports having received a Missouri offer in 2013 DT Monty Nelson  6'4"  318  5.1  Plantation (FL).

Nelson reports offers from Illinois, Indiana, Louisville, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Purdue, Rutgers, South Florida, Wake Forest, West Virginia, and Wisconsin, among others, in addition to Missouri.

"He's a very honest coach,"   said Nelson, talking about his primary recruiter, in Missouri Assistant Josh Henson.   "I've watched Missouri play, and I really like Missouri."

Nelson is very strong at the point of attack.  He lists his maximum bench press as 385 pounds, although he said that he can bench press 405 pounds.   His maximum in the squat is 550 pounds.

At this point, Nelson plans to take official visits to Michigan State, Missouri, and Wisconsin.   He said that he'll add schools to that list as time goes along.

He said that his decision will wait until he's taken some official visits.

"If I see some place and I like it, I would probably pull the trigger,"  said Nelson, who also indicated that he could see himself playing at Missouri.   "I think Missouri would be a great school to go to."

Nelson cited Missouri's player development as a positive factor in the Tigers' favor.

ShowMeMizzou.com will have more on Monty Nelson later.
