Augusta Speaks Highly Of Missouri Visit

The Missouri Tigers had been expecting an unofficial visit from Peoria (IL) Defensive Tackle Josh Augusta sometime over the summer. He finally made the trip on Sunday and shares his thoughts about it with

On Sunday, 2013 DL prospect Josh Augusta  6'4"  289  4.7   Peoria (IL) took an unofficial to Missouri. spoke with Augusta afterward, and he talked about his visit.

"My Missouri visit went great!  When we first got there, we pulled up into the parking lot and I saw that big ol' Tiger on the window,"    said Augusta.   "I really liked that!   Then all of the coaches came downstairs, and I met them.  Then they took me and showed me around the campus."

Augusta was accompanied by his mother and his friend and high school teammate, Eric Beard.  I asked Augusta how his mother liked Missouri?

"She loved it!  She like really loved it!  She just wants to come back,"  replied Augusta.  "I love it too!  They're like in my top two."

Augusta went on to explain that Missouri and Illinois are now his top two schools.

Because he had heard a lot of good things about Missouri, Augusta had high expectations preceding his Missouri visit.  I asked him if the visit had lived up to his expectations?

"It was way better than I thought,"   said Augusta, who cited Missouri's academics, 97% graduation rate, and business school as important factors.  "I really like their academic program."

Augusta said that his mother prefers Missouri over Illinois, and he said that he agrees with her.  He said that the two of them are going to continue to discuss his recruitment over the next few weeks.  They're planning to take an official visit to Missouri this fall.  He also plans to take official visits to Illinois and Michigan State.

I'll have more on Josh Augusta later.
