Missouri In Top 3 For Defensive End Standout

The Missouri Tigers have been hot on the football recruiting class in their search for some top flight prospects along their defensive line for 2013. ShowMeMizzou.com has the info on a top prospects interest in the Tigers.

During their bye week, the Missouri staff was busy on the recruiting trail.  Defensive linemen are a priority, especially defensive ends like 2013 junior college DE prospect Za'Darius Smith  6'6"  252   Greenville (AL) East Mississippi C.C.  Smith told ShowMeMizzou.com that he has a Missouri offer, and that the Tigers are among his final three schools.

Smith, who will graduate in December, holds offers from Auburn, Florida State, Kansas, Miami, Mississippi, Mississippi State, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Washington, and West Virginia, among others, in addition to Missouri.

Smith named his top three schools.

"West Virginia, Missouri, and Florida State,"  said Smith, identifying his current top three schools.

Smith has taken an official visit to West Virginia, and he's taken unofficial visits to Auburn, Florida State, and Mississippi State.

Smith self-reported a 4.7 forty, and a maximum in the bench press of 345 pounds.  Smith said that he came to East Mississippi as a pass-rusher, but that he's learned to play the run, as well.  He'll have three years to play two following his transfer.

Smith is planning to visit Missouri, and has tentatively scheduled that visit for November 16.

He also said that he'll be making his final decision "around Thanksgiving".

Za'Darius Smith said that he's looking for a program where he "fits in", and he also has his eye on the opportunity for immediate playing time.

"It's going to be hard to make a decision,"  said Smith.

We'll have more on Za'Darius Smith later.
