Last weekend, Missouri hosted 2013 DE prospect Ernest Suttles 6’5’ 230 Tampa (FL) Gaither on an official visit. Suttles has been committed to Iowa State since September, but he wanted to check out Missouri, as well.
ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Gaither Head Coach Jason Stokes, who talked about Suttles. Coach Stokes confirmed that Suttles has a Missouri offer, and that the talented athlete really enjoyed his visit to Missouri.
“I talked to Ernest this morning,” said Coach Stokes, of his conversation with Suttles following his visit to Missouri. “He said (the visit) went well. He liked the facilities. He was impressed with the program. He said the kids had a winning attitude that he really liked. He liked the academics. He thought it was a good trip.”
“I think he’s narrowed it down to three schools, to Iowa State, Mizzou, and Indiana,” explained Coach Stokes, updating Suttles’ current recruiting status. “So I guess he’s going to try to make his decision off of that.”
Coach Stokes said that Suttles has not visited Indiana, and he didn’t know if he would. Then he admitted that it’s probably really just between Iowa State and Missouri.
“I think it’s going to be close,” explained Coach Stokes. “I really think, in talking to him, that he really enjoyed his Missouri visit. But he really enjoyed Iowa State, too……………………………………… It’s tough to make a decision.”
“In talking to him today, he was really on the bubble,” continued Coach Stokes. “He didn’t know what he wanted to do………………………………. It’s going to be a tough decision.”
Coach Stokes wasn’t sure when a decision might be forthcoming. Then, he provided a pointed evaluation of Suttles as a prospect.
He reported that Suttles has recorded a 10’6” broad jump and a forty time in the range of 4.7-4.8.
“He has a big motor,” said Coach Stokes, speaking of Suttles. “He’s a great leader. He plays with a lot of anger. He’s a lot of fun to coach.”
I’ll have more on Suttles later.
