This past weekend, the Missouri Tigers hosted at least sixteen official visitors including 2013 LB prospect Joe Burkett 6’3” 210 Jefferson City (MO), who has been verbally committed to the Tigers since last spring.
Burkett suffered a serious ankle injury this fall, and he’s still wearing a protective boot on his surgically repaired foot. Still, he was able to enjoy his official visit.
“My official visit was awesome,” said Burkett. “I enjoyed it a lot!”
Burkett said that the “food was delicious!” And, that he really enjoyed attending the basketball game on Saturday. He was hosted by Michael Scherer, who is recovering from a knee injury.
Burkett expects to come out of the protective boot soon, and he’s planning to begin running and working out in January. He also told me that, depending on how quickly his ankle recovers, he would like to participate in track this spring. Burkett is one of the top pole vaulters in the country, with a personal best of over 16 feet, and is the defending state champion in the large school class.
Burkett is also looking forward to his arrival at Missouri this June. He said that he’s been told that he will start out at the WLB position.
“I can’t wait until June,” explained Burkett, referring to when he expects to arrive at Missouri. “I can’t wait!”
We’ll have more on Joe Burkett later.
