Hendrix Sees Positives in Iowa

O'Fallon (Ill.) class of 2014 defensive end Dewayne Hendrix discusses his newest offer, the Iowa Hawkeyes, and the SEC school who may jump in next.

O'Fallon High defensive end Dewayne Hendrix is a 6'5, 230-lber with length and athleticism. Those tools have enabled him to land several offers already in the process, including Iowa, who jumped into the mix today.

"As far as the offer, I think it will be good because they're very close to home," he said. "My parents can get there easily and come to games and visit."

Proximity isn't the only thing he likes about the Hawkeyes though.

"Their graduation, they told me, is third out of the conference and they put a lot of players in the pros. They are number one at putting players in pros for the conference and that was big to me."

Hendrix does not have a visit to Iowa planned yet, but will visit a few others coming up.

"I'm going to Tennessee on Friday, and then I've got either Kansas State or Missouri. I don't know which I'm going to go to yet. That's on March 2nd."

In the past, he has mentioned interest in the Volunteers, and he's hoping they are the next to jump in and offer him.

"They told me that they like me a lot and that I'm one of the players they are looking at heavily and told me hopefully they'll be able to offer me."

As for a commitment date, Hendrix is in no rush.

"I'm probably going to do it right after my football season, somewhere in there, so about Fall."

Hendrix's other offers come from Illinois, Indiana, Kansas State, Michigan State, Mississippi, Missouri, Northern Illinois, South Florida, and Syracuse.
