Missouri Offers Two-Way Kansas Standout

The state of Kansas is loaded like never before in recent years, and it looks like the Missouri Tigers continue to try and mine some of it for their 2014 football recruiting class. ShowMeMizzou.com has the scoop on the latest offer.

When the Missouri Tigers recruit the Kansas City and St. Louis greater Metro areas in Illinois and Kansas, they consider those areas being part of their  In-State recruiting territory.

This afternoon the Tigers extended an offer to a speedy prospect from Shawnee Mission (KS) West high school that they would like to keep "in-state".

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with SM West WR/CB Andre Maloney 6'2" 180 4.5 forty following him receiving his Tigers offer.

"They offered me today, this afternoon," said Maloney about receiving his first college offer for football. ‘I talked to Coach Hill and Coach Pinkel. I have been hearing from Missouri along with KU, and they had invited me to their junior day, but I didn't think that they would offer me so fast.I wanna play both ways, so I am looking for a school that would let me have that opportunity to do that. Missouri says that they are looking at me playing both ways.""

Maloney was excited about Missouri being his first offer and shared his thoughts on the school.

"Mizzou is an awesome school. They have a good program and the field I want to major in (criminal justice) is excellent at Mizzou."

I asked Andre what was next with him regarding his recruitment and if Missouri was at or near the top of his list of schools he was interested in.

"Yeah, absolutely Missouri is among my top schools. I will be attending their junior day on March 2nd, but I wanna wait and see what else I have coming my way before I make a decision. I'm not sure when I want to make a decision. I want to focus on my coming season. So, probably after my senior season I will make a decision," he said.

The Tigers aren't the only school who has shown Maloney early attention.

"Kansas, Nebraska,Oklahoma State,Tulsa and Southern Illinois have all stopped by my school. Kansas has invited me to their junior day. They said they have had a lot of players who have played both ways," said Maloney.

The speedy athlete, who was named first team all-conference at defensive back and also a playmaker at wide receiver, tells me that he has a bench max lift of 225lbs and a squat max of 300lbs and is also a standout in track.
