Missouri Offers 2014 Linebacker

The Missouri Tigers continued to add to their offer list by extending a verbal offer today to one of the rising prospects in the Midlands region for 2014. ShowMeMizzou.com has the story inside.

Lee's Summit (MO) 2014 LB Jimmie Swain 6'3" 220 (4.51 forty, 37.6" vertical)has had a very busy past few days.

After showing out as one of the top prospects overall attending the Elite Football combine in St. Louis, he picked up a verbal offer from the Nebraska Cornhuskers that same day.

Then today, he picked up another offer, this one from the Missouri Tigers.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Swain about his latest offer.

"It's great that Missouri offered me today," said Swain. "It happened after school. I went to my coaches office and he told me to call Coach Hill. So, I called him and we talked for awhile, and then he put Coach Pinkel on the phone and Coach Pinkel said that they really liked me and wanted me to come to Missouri and play for them and help them win an SEC championship. After that he put me on the phone with the defensive coordinator, Coach Stec. He talked about how they would like to add me to their defense and that they thought I could play outside or inside linebacker for them."

Swain said he will now look into Missouri more since they have offered him.

"I really hadn't given them much thought since I really wasn't hearing from them much before this. They invited me to junior day, but now that they have offered, I will be checking them out and researching them more. I know they are a good program and in the SEC. The coaches also talked about the improvements coming to the athletic facilities. I plan on going up there sometime probably next week. I am not sure when," said Swain.

Jimmie is getting use to talking to college coaches about offers as Missouri joins Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Illinois in offering him, while Kansas State, Ole Miss and Ohio State are showing strong interest.

He seems to be taking it all in very well.

It's an honor to get the interest of all these schools. Right now everyone is equal and I am keeping an open mind to every school that offers me."

That number will no doubt continue to rise as word gets out about the talented 2014 linebacker prospect.
