On Saturday, Missouri received an unofficial visit from 2014 WR prospect Terry McLaurin 6’0” 185 Indianapolis (IN) Cathedral. McLaurin received a scholarship offer from the Tigers, and Missouri impressed the talented receiver enough that he now lists the Tigers among his leaders. McLaurin spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com about his Missouri visit, and he updated us on his recruitment.
“My (Missouri visit) went great,” said McLaurin, who visited Missouri with his parents. “We loved it! We started off meeting with academic advisors.”
“Then, we went on a tour, and we got to see the athletic facilities,” continued McLaurin, talking about his Missouri visit. “I got to see the weight room, and I met with the strength and conditioning coach.”
“We got to watch practice,” explained McLaurin. “What’s really appealing to me as a receiver is that Missouri throws the ball a lot, and they run a lot of spread, and no-huddle. That’s really appealing to me. They get the ball to their play makers…………………………………………… Then, after practice, I took a campus tour, and sat down with Coach Washington and some of the other coaches.”
“Then, I met with Coach Pinkel, one on one,” said McLaurin. “That was where he offered me (a scholarship)………………………………… I like it that Coach Pinkel has assembled such a great staff, that everybody cares about the players; not just about football, but about academics and about the whole (person).”
McLaurin was very impressed with Missouri’s football gear.
“Missouri has top of the line gear,” said McLaurin. “They have everything that you could think of. That’s very appealing to me.”
McLaurin got to spend time with some of Missouri’s players. He called that the “icing on the cake for me”. Later, he identified Bud Sasser and Marvin Foster as a couple of the players with whom he spoke.
“Overall, it was really a great visit! It was one of the best visits that I’ve had,” explained McLaurin. “Missouri is really high on my list, with Purdue. I got a good feel for what Missouri’s about, and I’m really excited to see how their season progresses.”
McLaurin reported a 4.43 electronically-timed forty, a 4.29 shuttle time, and a 38” vertical. He said that Missouri sees him as an outside or an inside receiver who can stretch the field.
McLaurin is “still in the early stages of recruiting”, but he said that he “really likes Missouri”. He doesn’t have a time-table for a decision. He did say that he is considering another visit to Missouri, possibly an official visit later this year.
