For the Tigers, Chelsea Thomas (19-4, 1.31 ERA) picked up the win with 6 innings of shutout ball, allowing 3 hits, 2 walks, and a hit batter, while registering 6 strikeouts. Lindsey Muller (0-1, 0.88 ERA) pitched a scoreless 7th inning.
For Kentucky, Lauren Cumbess (10-6, 3.70 ERA) started and took the loss. After striking out the side in the 1st inning, Cumbess was touched for 6 runs in the 2nd inning. She issued 3 hits and 5 walks in 1.2 IPs, before being relieved by Kelsey Nunley (22-7, 2.02 ERA), who yielded just 1 run on 6 hits over 5.1 IPs.
The big hit in Missouri's 6-run 2nd inning was C Jenna Marsten's 2-out, 3-run double. She joined 3B Angela Randazzo and SS Corrin Genovese with 2 hits apiece.
Missouri closes out the regular season with a midweek DH at Western Illinois, and a three-game series next weekend at home against league-leading Tennessee. It looks like Missouri is pretty well locked in to the 4-5 seed in the SEC Tournament.
It also looked like Chelsea Thomas, who appeared to improve throughout Missouri's 9-inning win on Friday night, began to experience some problems toward the end of her 6-inning stint on Sunday.
