Missouri Offers JUCO Cornerback

The Missouri Tigers have made the cornerback position a major focus for their 2014 football recruiting class. ShowMeMizzou.com has the latest from a JUCO corner who has picked up a Mizzou offer and his plans with the Tigers.

Earlier this week, the Missouri Tigers extended a scholarship offer to 2014 CB prospect Jamal Mayo 5’11” 180 Oakland (CA) Laney C.C.. Mayo spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he updated us on his recruitment.

“I feel great about the Missouri offer,” said the Oakland native, speaking of his first major college offer.

Mayo said that he has been speaking with Missouri Assistant Coach Craig Kuligowski. I asked him what Missouri likes about him, and what he likes about Missouri?

“Missouri likes my arm length,” replied Mayo, who is on pace to graduate from Laney in December. “They like my height, my size, how physical I am on the field, and my speed………………………………………. I feel like I can fit well into their defense.”

Mayo, who is also an accomplished return man, reported personal bests of 4.49 seconds in the forty-yard dash, 4.07 seconds in the 5-10-5 shuttle, and a 37” standing vertical.

Mayo said that he doesn't know much about Missouri, but he is looking forward to learning more about the Tigers, and he is looking forward to his official visit to Missouri, which is scheduled for September 27.

“That’s during our bye week,” explained Mayo, who will have three years to play two following his second season at Laney.
