Middleton Talks Missouri Offer

The University of Missouri coaches have been out on the road this month during spring evaluation and made a stop of at a Bowling Green (KY) high school on Thursday and must have really liked what they saw as the DT received news of a Saturday morning offer.

As ShowMeMizzou.com has reported over the last few weeks, the Missouri Tigers have been extending offers out to some of  the top prospects they have been coming across while out on the road during the spring evaluation period.

One of the most recent offers was to Bowling Green (KY) South Warren DT Adrian Middleton 6'4" 275 4.8 forty time, 335 pound bench max, 505 pound squat.

"I found out about the offer early in the morning," said Middleton when talking to ShowMeMizzou.com about his Mizzou offer."I have been talking with Coach Kul, and Coach Washington came by my school on Thursday, I'm really excited about the offer, but I was a little surprised since they hadn't been really recruiting me that much before the offer."

Middleton knows the Tigers are in the SEC, but he isn't overly familiar with the program. However, he plans on changing that and talked about what the Tiger coaches have said to him.

"I know they are new to the SEC, and that's the top conference in the country. I also know through the mail they have sent me that they produce a lot of NFL first round draft picks lately. Especially defensive linemen. Coach Washington talked about the schools and academics there, and told me how I would be a good fit there. Coach Kul said that he thought I was a really good player and would help them along the defensive line. I really like talking to Coach Kul. He is a cool and funny guy. I have been planning on camping with them this summer," said Middleton.

His other offers are from Louisville, Kentucky, Indiana, Western Kentucky, Indiana State, Middle Tennessee State and Austin Peay.

"No one is really standing out at this point. I will be focusing on all the schools that have offered me and that this summer. The Missouri offer is new and I am pretty interested in them. I am hearing from Vanderbilt now which is new. I am planning on camping with Kentucky on June 8th, and I am planning to visit Missouri for camp or an unofficial visit. Vanderbilt wanted me to camp with them but it's the same day as the UK camp."

The explosive defensive lineman recorded 59 tackles as a junior, and played a mix of both DT and DE last season.

"We play a four man front here at South Warren, so I will be looking for what kind of defense a school plays. I want to play in a four man front in college. I can play either defensive tackle or defensive end. I am good with my hands and get off the ball quickly. I keep working on my explosion. I can get after the QB or play well against the run," he said.

Middleton said that in the end though he would mostly be looking for the school he felt was the best fit for him academically and had the best atmosphere and fit with the coaching staff. He did seem to know when he would have a decision by.

"I was going to wait until after my season to make a decision, but after talking with my head coach, Coach Smith, I have decided to make my choice before or by the start of my season, so I can focus on it and school."
