Earlier this month, McLaurin posted the top SPARQ rating (126.96) at the Chicago NFTC, and received an invitation to the Opening in July. This week, McLaurin spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he updated us on his recruitment.
McLaurin reported a personal best of 4.43 seconds electronically-timed in the forty-yard dash. He ran a 4.48 electronically-timed forty into the wind in Chicago, to go along with a 41” vertical jump, a 4.3 shuttle, and a 41’ power ball toss. He said that Missouri sees him as an inside receiver or as an outside receiver who can stretch the field.
McLaurin has remained in constant contact with the Missouri staff.
“Coach Steckel was by earlier in the evaluation period,” said McLaurin. “And, Coach Washington has been by. I’ve been in constant contact with Coach Washington, and the other Missouri coaches.”
He talked about his interest in Missouri.
“I’ve been talking to the Missouri coaches, and just letting them know that I’m still interested, and that they’re high on my list of schools,” explained McLaurin. “I’m very interested in Missouri……………………………….. Playing in that unbelievable spread offense that they have is very appealing to a receiver like me. And, playing in the SEC, probably the most competitive conference, and playing against top-tier competition game in and game out, and learning from Coach Washington and the other guys, those are also very appealing.”
McLaurin still has Missouri and Purdue as his top schools. He wants to visit some other schools this summer. He’s planning to visit Missouri again, possibly next week. He talked about his time-table for a decision.
“By the end of the summer, I want to have a narrowed down list,” explained McLaurin. “I’ve already let the Missouri coaches know, they’re going to be there until the end. I’m really excited about them!”
McLaurin said that he isn’t sure when he’ll make a final decision.
