Sandifer Speaks About Missouri Decision

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 4-star California 2014 shooting guard and Missouri Tigers basketball commit right after he announced his decision to play for the SEC basketball program, and got his thoughts on it, and how family played a role in him becoming a Tiger.

On Friday, Missouri received a verbal commitment from 2014 wing prospect Chris Sandifer 6’6” 190 Gardena (CA) Junipero Serra. Afterwards, he spoke to ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his decision to become a Missouri Tiger.

Sandifer and his mother are visiting family in the St. Louis area, and they spent much of Friday on campus at Mizzou with Missouri Head Coach Frank Haith. They toured the campus, and the basketball facilities, and they spoke with the Missouri staff.

“I liked the visit to Missouri a lot,” said Sandifer, who’s held a scholarship offer from the Tigers for about a month. “It was a good visit. I liked the campus, and what the coaches are about.”

Sandifer is a scorer who shoots a good percentage from 3-PT land, as well as from the FT line. He’s athletic enough to finish around the basket, and with his 6’9” wing-span, he can defend a number of positions on the floor. He’s looking forward to adding weight by the time he gets on the floor at Missouri.

“I already liked Missouri,” explained Sandifer, who intends to sign with Missouri in November. “But when I visited, I liked it even more. I liked it a lot! It’s the best fit for me.”

Sandifer said that he’ll likely visit Missouri officially in the fall, and that with having family in St. Louis, he may return for another unofficial visit, as well.

Sandifer said that his cousin from St. Louis, Steve Weaver, had played basketball for Missouri as a walk-on guard (1999-2000).

Sandifer said that he’s solidly committed to Missouri.

“I’m done with the recruiting process,” explained Sandifer. “I’m glad that it’s over!”

And, after about week of family time in St. Louis, he’ll be back on the AAU circuit with the Oakland Soldiers.
