Early last week, a day after he worked out in front of the Tennessee coaching staff in Knoxville, 2015 dual-threat QB prospect Alex Delton 6’0” 186 Hays (KS) stopped off at Missouri for an unofficial visit. Afterwards, Delton spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com about his Missouri visit, and he talked about the early stages of his recruitment.
“I liked Missouri a lot,” said Delton, who explained that his high school coach and Missouri Assistant Coach Andy Hill are “good buddies”. “They showed me around a little bit. I saw their training room, their equipment room, all that stuff, the weight room. Coach Hill told me that they’re going to be getting a bunch of new facilities, including an indoor practice facility that will be ready for when I’m in college. It’s got me excited about another college of interest for me.”
Recently, Delton ran a 4.49-second forty, and posted a 35” vertical jump, to go along with a 4.09-second 5-10-5 shuttle, and 11 reps at 225 pounds in the bench press.
“I met all of the Missouri coaches,” continued Delton, talking about his Missouri visit. “I’m hoping to hear from Coach Hill before long about a Missouri offer.”
“An offer from a school like Missouri is an honor,” said Delton. “I could see myself playing at Missouri…………………………………….. Missouri just joined the SEC, the toughest conference in college football.”
Delton said that he wants to play QB in college, although some schools have expressed interest in him as an athlete. He feels that he’s a good enough passer to play QB.
He’s not in any hurry to choose a college. He said that he’ll be throwing the ball a lot more this year than he did as a sophomore when Hays relied more on their very proficient ground game.
“I’d be very excited if Missouri offered me,” explained Delton. “I’m definitely going to try to get back there for a game this year.”
