Missouri Feels Like Family For Texas DT

The Missouri Tigers are known for their development and placing of defensive linemen in the NFL, along with their family atmosphere. That along with the prestige of possibly playing in the SEC has Williams high on Mizzou.

The Missouri football program is known for its family atmosphere. Missouri’s 2014 recruiting class appears to be taking family to another level, as the Tigers already have verbal commitments from three prospects who have family members currently on the team or who are members of the Missouri coaching staff.

Recently, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Missouri offer and 2014 DT prospect J.T. Williams 6’3” 275 Denton (TX) Ryan about his recruitment and his interest in Missouri.

“Missouri’s my best offer,” said Williams, whose brother Jordan is a current offensive lineman for the Tigers. “It’s SEC, so it’s really big!”

Williams reports offers from Houston and North Texas, and in addition to Missouri. He’s also receiving interest from Arkansas, Baylor, Northwestern, and Texas Tech, among others.

Williams reported a personal best of 4.87 in the forty-yard dash. He said that he’s bench pressed 345 pounds and that he’s squatted 500 pounds.

His primary recruiter is Coach Walker, and Williams said that he also speaks with Coach Pinkel.

“They told me they are very interested in me and that they want me to go up there,” said Williams, speaking of his conversations with the Missouri coaches.

Williams is wide open in his recruitment. He’s not planning to really address his recruitment until after the season. He’s been to Missouri for an unofficial visit to see his brother. He said that he’ll probably take an official visit to Missouri after the season, or possibly for the Texas A&M game.

“I wouldn’t mind going to Missouri,” said Williams. “It’s a pretty nice school, and they have a nice football program. And, my brother’s up there, so I’d probably fit in very well.”
