The Missouri Tigers have received a verbal commitment from 2014 TB prospect Trevon Walters 5’11” 192 Bradenton (FL) Manatee. Walters then spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his decision to play football at Missouri.
“I’m excited to be a Missouri Tiger,” said Walters. “I talked to Coach (Brian) Jones this morning, and he was very excited, too!”
“I always wanted to commit before my first game, before my season actually started,” explained Walters. “I’ve been talking to Coach (Brian) Jones lately. He’s been telling me that they really want me there at Missouri, and that they can really use me in their spread offense.”
“I haven’t been to Missouri yet, but Jake Stickler, one of my teammates, (visited) Missouri, and he told me a lot of great things about it,” said Walters. “So, I made the decision because I always wanted to play in the SEC anyways and Missouri is my only SEC offer. And, Coach Jones, we have a good relationship.”
Walters plays in a spread offense at Manatee. Last season, he rushed for 1,119 yards and 16 touchdowns last season as a junior. He averaged 9.25 yards per carry and scored 20 touchdowns overall. He also had 4 receiving TDs, and handles return duties for Manatee.
Walters reports a personal best of 4.44 seconds in the forty-yard dash, to go along with a 37” vertical, a 4.34 shuttle, 310-pound max in the bench press, and 8 reps in the bench press at 225 pounds.
Walters said that he and Coach Jones have talked about an official visit, but that they’ve haven’t scheduled one yet.
“It’s a good feeling to be a Missouri Tiger,” said Walters. “It really is.”
