On Tuesday evening, 2014 LB prospect Nile Sykes 6’2” 230 Lombard (IL) Montini Catholic received an offer from Missouri. Afterwards, he spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com and he talked about what it meant to him.
“I think it’s awesome! It’s an awesome opportunity,” said Sykes. “It’s a great school! I’ve heard a lot of good things about it. I just got to see them play last week. So now I’m just looking forward to setting up a visit and getting down there to meet the coaches in person.”
Sykes said that he spoke with Missouri Assistant Coach Dave Steckel.
“(Coach Stec) said that he loves how I play on film,” explained Sykes. “He said that I’m just the size he’s looking for. Then, he was talking about where I fit in. He said that he’s looking at me to play either the Mike or maybe the Will, or maybe even sometimes the Sam. He said that he could move me around. He said that he’s just excited about me.”
“I’m honored,” said Sykes, who said that he’ll have to schedule a visit to Missouri. “I’m just really getting excited about it! I’m definitely going to go check out (Missouri). I haven’t looked at their schedule yet, but that’s something that I’m going to have to do. But, I definitely want to get down there.”
Sykes said that he has already visited Illinois and Indiana.
Sykes reports a personal best of 4.66 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 30” standing vertical, and a 4.1-second 5-10-5 shuttle.
Sykes said that he doesn’t have a narrowed list of schools.
“I don’t want to put a favorites list out there,” explained Sykes. “But, Missouri will definitely be under consideration.”
Sykes said that he saw the Missouri-Indiana game and that he can see himself playing linebacker at Mizzou.
