Williams Talks About Why He Picked Missouri

The Missouri Tigers football team picked up it's 24th known commitment on Sunday morning from Michigan DE and visitor Jhonathon Williams, who ShowMeMizzou.com reported on his visiting last week. He spoke about his decision while on his trip home.

On Sunday morning, 2014 DE prospect Jhonathon Williams 6’6” 237 Berrien Springs (MI) made public his commitment to Missouri. After he and his family were on their way home, Williams took a few minutes to speak with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his decision.

“I just loved Missouri! It was (a) beautiful campus,” said Williams. “With all the stadium renovations that they’re doing, it’s really nice already, but it’s going to be even better in a few years from now, when I’m here.”

Williams talked about why he chose Missouri over Toledo, Michigan State, Nebraska, and others.

“I really like the environment,” explained Williams. “And of course their whole track record with players with my height and weight and body type. I just really liked it!”

Williams went on to say that his mother and younger brother also liked Missouri.

“(Missouri) is nice! It was real nice,” said Williams, who went on to say that he had really enjoyed their tour of the Missouri campus. “(My Mom) really liked it. My little brother liked it, too. It was nice. It was real nice!”

Williams reports a personal best of 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash, and a 33” vertical jump. He’s a former basketball player who is in his second full year of football.

Williams said that Missouri sees him as a “pass-rushing defensive end”. He said that he’s done with recruiting and visits, except that he plans to return to Missouri next month for an unofficial visit. He’ll enroll at Missouri next June.

“I’m a (Missouri) Tiger now,” explained Williams. “I’m done with recruiting.”
