The Missouri Tigers will be hosting a dual-sport athlete from Florida on an official visit this weekend. ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2014 football and track prospect Kwadarrius Smith 5’9” 171 Orlando (FL) First Academy about his upcoming visit and his recruitment.
“I’m leaving Thursday (night) to go and visit Missouri,” said Smith, who said that Missouri is looking at him for both football and track. “They haven’t offered me yet, but that’s what this is about…………………………………… This would be my first major-college offer.”
Smith is the reigning 100-meter champ in Florida’s Class 1-A. His best 100-meter time is 10.55 seconds, which he ran in the state finals. He’s also posted a personal best of 21.51 seconds in the 200 meters. He reports a 4.41-second 40-yard dash, to go along with a 36” vertical jump, and a 4.02-second 5-10-5 shuttle.
“Missouri is recruiting me as an athlete,” explained Smith. “When I get up there, they’re going to put me where they think is best.”
On the gridiron, Smith plays both ways and also excels as a return man. He plays corner and wing back. Although First Academy is a small school, Smith said that they were 13-1 a year ago, and that they play “all the big schools” in the area.
“We play nothing but the best competition,” said Smith.
Smith said that Missouri is obviously at the top of his list. He said that if Missouri offers, there’s a chance that he will go ahead and commit.
