Rising Prospect To Visit Missouri In January

The Missouri Tigers have been very successful over the years in finding some very talented under the radar prospects in each football recruiting class over the years. ShowMeMizzou.com introduces you to a rising talent who talks about his recruitment by Mizzou.

Recently, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2014 WR prospect Rashad Canty 6’4” 212 Riverdale (GA) about his recruitment, and the increased interest he has been receiving, including recruiting interest from the SEC East Division Champion Missouri Tigers.

“Yes sir. Missouri is recruiting me,” said Canty. “I’ve been talking to Coach Henson. They’ve been by my school a few of times. My official visit is (tentatively) set for January 24th.”

Canty went on to say that Coach Henson has been very up front with telling him that Missouri is full at receiver, but that hasn’t diminished his interest.

“Coach Henson has done a great job of being honest, and letting me know how things actually are,” said Canty. “Just by him doing that, I respect him a lot.”

Canty is currently committed to Appalachian State, but he has been receiving a lot of interest from other schools, and he holds offers from Georgia State, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Tulane, UAB, and Wake Forest, among others. Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech and others are interested. He’s scheduled to visit Vanderbilt on January 31st. He’s waiting for Missouri to offer.

“Anything can happen,” said Canty, who said that Missouri would be his top choice, should the Tigers offer. “It may not necessarily be if somebody decommits. It may be just how they actually feel once I get up there.”

Canty is a pre-qualifier in the classroom, and a multi-sports athlete who plays football, basketball, and baseball, and runs track. He reports a personal best of 4.60 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 34” vertical, and a 4.3-second 5-10-5 shuttle. He reports personal bests of 295 pounds in the bench press, 355 pounds in the squat, and 275 pounds in the power clean.

“I’m definitely interested in Missouri,” said Canty.
