The Missouri Tigers are heading into the last weekend to host official visitors before signing day with a few spots left open to try and fill out their 2014 football recruiting class.
There are still some needs at a couple of places, mainly Defensive End and Safety.
Here is a rundown of where things stand with the Tigers Target Board of remaining possible prospects to fill out the class.
Walter Brady 6'4" 242 DE Florence (AL): Brady picked up a Mizzou offer a couple of days ago, and he and his Mother have led ShowMeMizzou.com to believe that a commitment to Missouri is very possible on or following his official visit this weekend. In fact, a source told me today that barring his visit sucking, he would be all Tiger. He would certainly fill one of the remaining needs left for 2014 with the move of Kony Ealy to the NFL. The Middle Tennessee State commit seems poised for a flip to the Tigers.
Amani Oruwariye 6'2" 185 S/CB Tampa (FL): The Vanderbilt commit took an official visit to Penn State last weekend, but it appears as though that may be a grey-shirt situation for him. He will take his official visit to Missouri this weekend. Amani would prefer to play cornerback if possible in college, which would appear to be his only hold up wit the Tigers, as they want him to add weight and play safety.
Tavon Ross 6'1" 196 S Cochran (GA) Bleckley County: Ross has been considered a soft commit with him deciding to take official visits to Georgia and Miami, however, he has consistently stated publicly that he is still committed to Mizzou. Some thought that a quick flip elsewhere would happen quickly. Other schools recruiting him are in the process of actively recruiting other safety prospects, and there was word of a time limit regarding his ability to flip. Missouri gets the last shot to lock him down with his official visit this weekend. If he enjoys his trip, chances look likely that he sticks with the Tigers.
Rocel McWilliams 6'3' 240 DE Pensacola (FL) West Florida: McWilliams told me following his official visit to Missouri that he was "all Tigers" in his mind while on his way back home from the visit. However, he did say everyone would have to wait until signing day to know for sure. It has appeared as though McWilliams is a plan B in case DE Lorenzo Carter decides not to become a Gator. Right now I would put McWilliams in the 50/50 category, and it could be a signing day morning decision.
Desean Blair 6'4' 190 WR Jacksonville (FL) Sandalwood: While still stating he is committed to Louisville, Blair will be taking his final official visit to Missouri this weekend. The tall, speedy receiver is looking for a school that will get him the ball in a passing offense, and Mizzou fits that bill. He also likes the idea of playing in the SEC. Blair told ShowMeMizzou.com that it was Louisville and Missouri with Nebraska behind them.
Poona Ford 6'0" 286 DT Hilton Head (SC): The super athletic Ford is from the same mold as Sheldon Richardson and current Tiger DT Harold Brantley in that he is athletic enough that he played a major offensive role on his HS team at running back. Ford was thought to be a lock to follow Charlie Strong from Louisville to Texas, but word is that Ford did not love Texas, so he decided to keep looking to see if there is a better fit. He cancelled trips to Oregon and South Carolina, instead visiting Purdue, and will visit Mizzou this weekend. The Tigers have done a nice job recruiting Poona. They will get the last chance to help him find a school he loves.
Spencer Williams 6'4" 230 DE Jacksonville (FL) First Coast: Missouri offered Williams yesterday, as they try and shore up a need at defensive end here late. Spencer did not want to discuss his future plans regarding Mizzou or his offer, but he said he would talk about it following this weekend. This leads us to believe an official visit to Missouri may be in the works for him. The Cincinnati commit has become a hot commodity late.
Daniel Cage 6'3" 290 Cincinnati (OH) Winton Woods: Cage finishes up his official visits at Missouri this weekend. He will decide from among Michigan State, Notre Dame (visiting today), Louisville, Cincinnati and the Tigers. He has been thought to be a Michigan State lean, but has said that he wants to see what all of his top schools have to offer before deciding.
Jordan Prestwood 6'6" 310 OT Arizona Western(AZ) C.C.: The big, athletic JUCO tackle started his career at Florida State before transferring to Notre Dame, and then ending up at Arizona Western. Auburn was thought to be the leading, until Prestwood could not make it in as a mid-year transfer. Auburn is thought to be done except for waiting on Braden Smith. Word is Prestwood may visit Missouri this weekend. He is considering the Tigers along with Miami and Kentucky along with others.
Caleb Scott 6'3" 190 WR Suwanee (GA) North Gwinnett: Another talent from North Gwinnett who the Tigers targeted a couple of weeks ago with an offer. Scott has also become a hot commodity as of late with offers from TCU, Vanderbilt and others. Word is that he may be a TCU lean after originally thinking that he could commit to Vandy while on his official visit. It is unclear if Scott will take his planned official visit to Mizzou this weekend or not.
George Rushing 6'2" 190 WR Ft. Lauderdale (FL) Gibbons: Missouri appears to be looking to add another receiver to this years class late. Rushing was offered last week and he was suppose to visit this weekend. We are hearing that his official to Mizzou may be off. If so, he would likely decide between Wisconsin or Louisville
