Recently, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2015 DE prospect Kyle Phillips 6’4” 250 Nashville (TN) Hillsboro, who confirmed that he has received a scholarship offer to play football at Missouri. Phillips also talked about his interest in Missouri, and he shared some other thoughts regarding his recruitment.
“Missouri offered me a scholarship near the end of last season,” said Phillips, who currently holds more than 20 scholarship offers, including offers from Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Duke, Florida, Illinois, Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Virginia, among a rapidly growing list of others.
“I like Missouri a lot,” said Phillips. “They had a really big year this year in the SEC, which is the best league to be in right now. So, I like that. And, they won their bowl game. They’re and up and coming program. And they’ve got two signees coming in from Nashville.”
Phillips said that right now, he is “pretty much open”, and he named Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, and Clemson as other schools of interest for him.
“Hopefully this summer, I can break it down to about five schools, something like that, so I can set up my official visits,” explained Phillips.
Last year, Phillips was timed at 4.67 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He said that he’s thinking that he’ll make a decision during his senior year.
“Hopefully, sometime next fall,” explained Phillips regarding a timetable for his decision
He also confirmed that he does have interest in Missouri, although he’s not sure when he might be able to take a visit to Missouri.
