Texas Lineman Talks Missouri Offer

Despite their move to the SEC, The Missouri Tigers have kept their recruiting ties in the state of Texas. Mizzou continues to mine the Lone Star state with a recent offer to a lineman there. He shares his thoughts with ShowMeMizzou.com.

ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2015 OT prospect Madison Akamnonu  6'5"  270  Arlington (TX) Bowie, who shared his thoughts about his recent Missouri offer, and who updated us on his recruitment.

"This offer puts Missouri at the top,"    said Akamnonu, who learned from Missouri Assistant Coach Dave Steckel that he had a Missouri offer.    "They're either one or two, right now.    They're in my top three, top five, right now."

Akamnonu reported offers from Arkansas State, Colorado State, Houston, Kansas State, North Texas, Texas State, Texas Tech, and Wake Forest, in addition to Missouri.    He's also hearing from Arizona State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, TCU, and Texas.

Akamnonu identified Kansas State, Texas Tech, and Missouri as his top schools.

Akamnonu is a teammate of Missouri 2014 signee Roderick Winters.

"That's a plus for Missouri, to actually know somebody on the team,"   explained Akamnonu.   "Actually, I know two people on the team at Missouri."

Akamnonu was referring to former Arlington Bowie star Russell Hansbrough.

He said that he used to play basketball and he also ran cross-country, but now he's focused on football.   Akamnonu reported a personal best of 5.1 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 27" vertical jump, 315-pound bench press maximum, and a 450-pound squat.

Akamnonu is planning a summertime decision, and he wants to visit Missouri in the early summer, maybe during Missouri's camp season.
