Missouri JUCO Offer Heard Talks Tigers

The Missouri Tigers have graduated some nice NFL caliber defensive linemen over the past few years, and are always on the look out for the next one. Their most recent JUCO DL offer talks about his recruitment by Mizzou.

ShowMeMizzou.com has learned that Missouri has extended a scholarship offer to 2014 DE prospect Eddie Heard  6'4"  240  Oakland (CA) Laney College.   Heard spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about the Missouri offer, his visit plans, and his recruitment.

"Coach Kuligowski called me today to let me know that they have offered me,"    said Heard, who was a qualifier out of high school a year ago, and has four years to play three.    "I've been talking to Coach Kool over the past couple of weeks.    He's been scrambling.   Everyone watched my video and they really liked me.   So, they've been looking for a scholarship for me.    And, he called me today to let me know that one had opened up."

Heard currently holds offers from California and Fresno State, in addition to Missouri.   Several other schools have expressed interest, but have told Heard that they don't have a scholarship available at this time.

Heard also plays baseball at Laney College.   He was a baseball pitcher and played QB in high school, but didn't have any major offers to play football.

According to Heard, Missouri Assistant coach Josh Henson stopped by Laney a couple of weeks ago, and the Laney coach showed Heard's video from last fall to Coach Henson.   Coach Henson then sent the video to Coach Kuligowski, Missouri's defensive line coach, who liked what he saw.

Heard reported a personal best of 4.7 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 36" vertical.      He has the look of a Missouri defensive end.

Heard is planning to take an official visit to Missouri on May 16th.    He said that Missouri is his top school.

"I like Missouri,"   explained Heard.    "I've been watching guys go in the draft from Missouri.   And the two defensive ends they had last year.   And, they play in the SEC!"

Heard said that the distance from his native California will not be an issue for him.

"I'll probably have a decision after my visit,"   said Heard.
