Recently, Missouri extended a scholarship offer to 2015 DE prospect James Lockhart 6'4" 253 Ennis (TX). Not long after, Lockhart took time to speak with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his Missouri offer, his interest in Missouri, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.
"The Missouri offer is big," said Lockhart. "You know, I feel like any SEC school that offers you is big. Man, I was pretty excited (about my Missouri offer)!
Lockhart reports currently holding offers from Alabama, Arizona State, Arkansas, Baylor, California, Colorado, Florida State, Iowa, Kansas State, Miami, Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon State, Penn State, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, and Washington State, in addition to Missouri.
Lockhart said that defensive line coach Craig Kuligowski is his primary recruiter for the Tigers.
"I talked to Coach Kul," said Lockhart. "You know, we had a good conversation. He told me that they really like me."
Lockhart continued to share some of his thoughts about Missouri.
"Missouri had a pretty good season last year," said Lockhart. "I feel like Missouri is a program on the rise, and they're doing a lot of great things. They play good defense. They're in the SEC."
Lockhart reported a personal best of 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 4.1-second 5-10-5 shuttle, and a 32" vertical. His personal best in the bench press is 375 pounds, and he's done 22 reps at 225 pounds in the bench. He also said that he's squatted as much as 600 pounds.
Lockhart said that he wants to visit Missouri this summer.
"I'm very much interested in Missouri," explained Lockhart, who wasn't sure when he would visit Mizzou. "But I just have a lot of other visits planned as well. I'm going to have to see when I can schedule any other visits."
Lockhart would like to begin to narrow things down pretty soon.
"I'll have a top five or six by the end of spring ball," said Lockhart, who said that Missouri's inclusion on that list is "possible".
Lockhart said that he would like to make a decision before his senior season, but he acknowledged that it might have to wait until after the season.
