ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with versatile 2015 athlete Evyn Cooper 6'2" 185 Buford (GA), who confirmed receipt of a Missouri offer, and who talked about his interest in Missouri, as well as updated us on the current status of his recruitment.
"Missouri's a good offer," said Cooper. "I really love the coaching staff, and I'm looking forward to seeing the campus. I like the schemes that they run on offense and defense. I'm really looking forward to getting to the campus this summer and checking everything out, to see how I'd fit there."
Cooper currently holds offers from Arkansas, Cincinnati, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Illinois, Indiana, Memphis, North Carolina, Ohio, Purdue, Rutgers, Syracuse, Temple, and Virginia, among others, in addition to Missouri.
Cooper played mostly running back for the Class 3-A state champs last year, but he said that this year, he is playing more in the defensive backfield. He is also an explosive return man, who could play in the slot on offense, or in the secondary. He said that like most schools, Missouri is recruiting him as an athlete, meaning position to be determined.
Purdue is recruiting him to play corner, and while he denied having a list of favorites, he did say that the Boilermakers and Missouri are among his top schools.
Cooper said that he had just run a 10.7-second 100 meters at a track meet. He also reported personal bests of 4.34 seconds in the 40-yard dash, a 40" standing vertical, and a 3.9-second 5-10-5 shuttle.
Cooper is planning to visit Missouri this summer, but he wasn't sure exactly when.
"I'm looking to get to all of the schools," explained Cooper. "I want to see which school gives me the best opportunity, and is the best fit."
