On Saturday, ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2015 forward prospect Kevin Puryear 6’7” 225 Blue Springs (MO) South, who confirmed that Missouri has offered him a scholarship. He talked about the Missouri offer, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.
“Missouri offered me a scholarship this morning,” said Puryear. “It’s definitely an honor. You know, growing up in Missouri, of course, it’s pretty cool to get an offer from your home state school.”
“I talked to Coach Anderson this morning,” said Puryear. “He said that he loved watching me play over the summer, and that they need guys like me in their program… It was definitely a good feeling to hear him say that…………………………………………. He said that he likes my toughness and how hard I play every game.”
“Coach Anderson, Coach Loos, Coach Fuller, and Coach Fulford have been watching me all summer,” explained Puryear, who plays on the same AAU team as Missouri target Jimmy Whitt. “They were at most of my weekend games this summer.”
Puryear has developed his perimeter skills over the summer. Now, he’s seen as a major college wing player or combo forward.
“Coming into this summer, I had a lot of mid-major attention,” explained Puryear, who now holds offers from Creighton, Miami (OH), Murray State, Oklahoma State, Nebraska, and San Diego, among others, in addition to Missouri. “But now, I’ve been dealing with strictly high major schools. So, it’s definitely a blessing.”
Puryear is planning to take an official visit to Missouri within the next month or so.
“I just want to check it out,” said Puryear, who is good friends with Missouri freshman tight end Kendall Blanton.
