ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Puryear Thursday evening, and he told us that he had taken an unofficial visit to Missouri on Wednesday, and that he had committed to Coach Anderson and the Tigers during that visit.
Puryear is Missouri’s first commitment for the 2015 recruiting class, and he told ShowMeMizzou.com that he’s finished with his recruitment, and that he will sign with Missouri in November.
“Coach Anderson has a plan for how he wants to utilize me,” said Puryear. “He’s just a great guy, and a great coach.” Puryear has scheduled an official visit to Missouri for next weekend, August 29-31. He said that he’s looking forward to spending the weekend on campus at Mizzou. The big lefty is a hard-nosed, versatile forward, who can play inside or on the wing.
Puryear chose Missouri over offers from Creighton, Miami (OH), Murray State, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Purdue, and San Diego, among others. He said that Coach Anderson told him that he wants Puryear, an in-state talent and a young man of high-quality character, to be a cornerstone-type player for Missouri Basketball. “I just love it at Mizzou,” said Puryear, who has a number of friends already on campus.
