On Friday, shortly after he gave his verbal commitment to play basketball at Missouri, 2015 SG prospect Cullen VanLeer 6’4” 195 Pacific (MO) took a few minutes to speak with ShowMeMizzou.com about his pledge to Missouri.
“(Missouri) offered me this morning,” said VanLeer. “And, I thought about it. Then, I called them and told them I’m coming.”
According to VanLeer, Missouri had been talking to him and watching him during the July evaluation period.
“They said they really like my shooting ability, my knowledge of the game, my work ethic, and all the little things that I do,” explained VanLeer. “(The Missouri coaches) told me they were really excited, and they were really happy it worked out.”
During VanLeer’s junior season, he averaged 21.9 points/game on 61% shooting from inside the arc, 33% shooting from outside the arc, and 74% from the FT line. In addition, he averaged 8.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, to go along with a 1.5 assist/turnover ratio.
VanLeer said that he’s “definitely” become a better 3-PT shooter since his high school season, when he was a marked man on most nights.
He said that he’s been a Missouri fan all along.
“I took an unofficial visit (to Missouri) two weeks ago,” explained VanLeer. “Ever since I was little, Missouri was one of those schools, when you’re a Missouri kid…………………………………….. It was a pretty easy decision.”
He plans to sign with Missouri in November.
