Over the weekend, junior college sophomore OT prospect Malik Cuellar 6’5” 285 San Francisco (CA) City College took an official visit to Missouri. After he got back home, he took a few minutes to speak with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about the Missouri visit, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.
“I had so much fun, actually, (on my Missouri visit),” said Cuellar. “It really sucks that they lost, because everything else was perfect. It was great!”
Cuellar, who was a qualifier out of high school and plans to matriculate following this semester, currently holds offers from Arizona State, Georgia State, Iowa State, Marshall, Mississippi State, Oklahoma State, South Alabama, Texas Tech, and Utah State, among others, in addition to Missouri. He continued to talk about his Missouri visit.
“I enjoyed Missouri so much,” said Cuellar. “I love it, actually. Missouri is still in my top two.”
Cuellar, who has already visited Texas Tech and Cal, plans to take an official visit to Arizona State the last weekend of this month. And, he said he may visit Mississippi State before making a final decision. He plans to sign in mid-December.
“I really, really enjoyed it (at Missouri),” explained Cullar. “I loved the atmosphere. I loved the college town.”
Consistent with his importance to the Tigers, Missouri Offensive Coordinator Josh Henson, Head Coach Gary Pinkel, and Offensive Line Coach A.J. Ricker are triple teaming Cuellar in their recruitment of him.
Cuellar sees a very good opportunity at Missouri to come in next spring and compete for playing time. He has three years to play two, but he would be expected to play right away.
At this point, I think it’s safe to say Cuellar is leaning toward Missouri.
“There’s more than a sixty-percent chance (that I’ll sign with Missouri),” explained Cuellar.
