Recently, the Missouri Tigers extended a scholarship offer to 2015 DE prospect Tipa Galea’i 6’6” 219 Euless (TX) Trinity. ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with Galea’i, and he talked about the Missouri offer, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.
“Missouri offered me Tuesday,” said Galea’i. “I really like the Missouri offer! I’m really looking forward to getting to know Mizzou, all about it.”
Galea’i is from the same high school as current Missouri TE Jason Reese. He said that he’s known Reese since grade school. He said that Missouri Defensive Coordinator Dave Steckel informed him of the Missouri offer. He said that he’s also starting talking to Missouri Defensive Line Coach Craig Kuligowski.
“Jason Reese has been telling me about Mizzou,” explained Galea’i. “He told me that he really likes it there………………………………… I grew up with him ever since elementary school.”
Galea’i currently holds offers from Fresno State, Hawaii, Houston, Nevada, New Mexico, North Texas, Oklahoma State, Texas Tech, Utah, Utah State, Vanderbilt, and Washington State, among others, in addition to Missouri. He’s had interest from Arizona State, Baylor, and TCU.
“I’m still open,” said Galea’i. “Schools have been coming in. Right now, I’m just waiting to be done with my season. Once it ends, then I’ll start closing in.”
Galea’i also plays basketball, and he was most recently timed at 4.69 seconds in the 40-yard dash. He has a 31” standing vertical and a bench maximum of 245 pounds.
He’s planning to visit Missouri after the season.
“I plan to visit Missouri,” said Galea’i. “I haven’t picked out the exact date, yet. They’re one of my priorities.”
Galea’i said that he’ll start narrowing things down after the season.
