One of the three uncommitted prospects that Missouri hosted on an official visit over the weekend, 2015 OLB prospect Saleem Brightwell 6’2” 205 Paramus (NJ) Catholic, talked to about his Missouri visit, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.

“Missouri was nice,” said Brightwell. “It was different than I thought it was. The campus was different. It was nice. The coaches are all real. They all seem like genuine coaches. That was something else that I liked. They were genuine.”

“The players were really truthful,” said Brightwell, speaking of the Missouri players he met on his visit. “They told me the truth about what they liked about the school, and what they didn’t like. They wanted me to know that if I come to Missouri, that they’re going to push me to be the best I can be. They’re going to care about you. They don’t just want you to play football. They want you to succeed in the classroom.”

Brightwell currently holds offers from Boston College, Connecticut, Iowa, Michigan State, Nebraska, North Carolina, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Wisconsin, among others, in addition to Missouri.

Brightwell has taken unofficial visits to Boston College, Michigan State, and Rutgers.

Brightwell’s primary recruiter had been the now departed linebacker’s coach, Dave Steckel. He said that he will wait to see who Missouri hires to coach his position. He wants to meet the new coach.

Brightwell is planning to take the time during the Dead Period to get away from recruiting.

In January, he’s planning to take a couple more visits, to Pittsburgh, and to Miami. He said that he’d like to visit Oregon, as well.

It doesn’t sound like Brightwell is very close to making a decision. He said that it could be February before he chooses a school. He said that Missouri is one of his top four schools. He wants to see some other schools for comparison.
