, Missouri hosted several official visitors including long-time Missouri commit, junior college TB prospect Chase Abbington 6’3” 216 Hutchinson (KS) Community College. Following his Missouri visit, the talented former in-state signee talked about his visit, and he updated us on his current status.
Abbington originally signed with Missouri in February, 2013, out of O’Fallon (MO) Fort Zumwalt South. But, he had to take the junior college route out of high school, and the Tigers placed him at Hutch, where he played running back for the Blue Dragons in 2013. This past season (2014), Abbington decided not to play football, and to focus on his studies in preparation for his transfer to Missouri. Abbington has never wavered from his commitment to Missouri, and he will sign with Missouri in February, enroll at Missouri in June, and he will have three years of eligibility remaining; three years to play three.
“My Missouri visit was great! It was a good time,” said Abbington. “It was great just being back there. I’m looking forward to getting back there. I’m tired of Kansas.”
Abbington said that he was hosted on his visit by Duron Singleton, whom he had met on a recruiting trip his first time around.
He said he also spent time with Cornell Ford, his long-time recruiter, and his new position coach, Brian Jones.
“I just want to come in and help out any way I can,” said Abbington, who acknowledged that he’s a little different type of back than most of the running backs who have been playing at Missouri. “I just want to do what I can to help the team.”
Abbington said that his recruitment is over.
“I’m not looking at any other schools,” said Abbington, who finished his interview with a tone-setting refrain. “Go Mizzou!”
