A little more than a month ago, junior college red-shirt freshman DE prospect Marcell Frazier 6'5" 255 Weed (CA) College of Siskiyous verbally committed to Missouri. This past weekend, he took his official visit to Missouri. Afterwards, he spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about his first look at Mizzou.
“It was a great visit,” said Frazier, who was hosted by Donavin Newsom. “It was everything that I could hope it to be. I didn’t really have much expectations about what it would be. But it was great!”
“My host (Donavin Newsom) was a really, really, really good kid,” explained Frazier. “I can see myself getting along with him very well.”
“Hanging out with my host was pretty awesome,” said Frazier. “Just seeing the whole campus, and seeing the stadium, putting on that jersey and going into that stadium was the best part. It had to be the best part of the visit, by far, being in the stadium under the lights. If I had to choose one highlight of the whole trip, it had to be that.”
Frazier, who chose Missouri over Kansas State, Nebraska, and New Mexico, among others, said that he’ll sign with Missouri next Wednesday, and that he’ll arrive on campus in June. He said that the Missouri staff wanted him to understand that he’ll play right away.
“I met with Coach Pinkel twice,” said Frazier, who comes to Missouri with three years to play three. “He said to trust him, and that we’ll get you to where you want to go, you know, NFL-wise……………………………………… Coach Pinkel said to listen to what they say, and my time here will be easy, and fun, and amazing!”
Frazier said that the Missouri staff expressed to him that they need him to play right away.
“They said that they have a need for me to come in and step in right away and try to help pick up some of the slack for the first-rounders that they’re going to lose this year,” explained Frazier. “It was nice to hear that they need me.”
"All I care about is winning," said Frazier. "I'll just do whatever I can to hep us win every week."
“The visit prepared me for when I get here, kind of knowing what to expect,” explained Frazier, who said that he’s already working out in preparation for his arrival at Missouri. “It’s way more real, now!”
