he top rated 2015 prospect in the state is a Missouri commit, and over the weekend the talented quarterback took his official visit to Mizzou. Afterwards, 6’4” 204-pound Drew Lock, from Lee’s Summit (MO), spoke with ShowMeMizzou.com, and he talked about sampling college life during his weekend in Columbia.
“My Missouri visit went really well,” said Lock. “I was thrilled with the visit! I’ve been there, been to games, with family and friends. But I’ve never been there with players, or people from the school. It just kind of made me see what college life is going to be like. An off-season weekend at college.”
“It was more of a relaxing weekend,” explained Lock. “That’s what I really wanted out of it. There wasn’t a lot of talk about football. More just about school and college life, where I’m going to live, stuff like that. It wasn’t stressful. That was perfect for me.”
Lock said that he did do some recruiting.
“I think it paid off, too,” surmised Lock, referring to the two weekend commits. “Especially (Brandon Martin) the wide receiver. I tried to talk to him as much as I could. That worked out.”
Lock, who committed to Missouri in early April, and has not wavered since, chose the Tigers over offers from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, Ole Miss, Tennessee, Texas, and West Virginia, among others. The Elite 11 finalist certainly would have had even more offers had he remained open to recruiting.
Lock will sign with Missouri on Wednesday and arrive at Missouri in June. He said that he expects to put on some weight, and probably play at over 220 pounds.
“I am so excited to get started at Mizzou!” said Lock.
