Thompson Talks Tigers Interest

Kansas City 2016 QB discusses his recruitment by the Missouri Tigers. spoke with recent Missouri Junior Day attendee, 2016 QB prospect Skylar Thompson 6’2” 192 Independence (MO) Fort Osage. As one of this year’s top local QB prospects, Thompson is on Missouri’s radar. He talked about his unofficial visit to Missouri, and his interest in Missouri, and he updated us on the current status of his recruitment.

“Junior Day was good,” said Thompson. “Coach Hill and Coach Pinkel came to school to visit me in January and invited me to Junior Day. When I went there, I talked to Coach Hill.”

Kansas has offered Thompson, and Arkansas, Iowa, Iowa State, Louisville, Nebraska, and Wake Forest are all showing interest, in addition to Missouri.

Thompson went on to relate some of what he learned about a potential Missouri offer at Junior Day.

“Missouri said that they really like me,” said Thompson. “They want to see me throw again in the spring.”

Thompson said that he did not play basketball this year. Instead, he’s “been lifting (weights) and working on throwing a lot more, just focusing on football”.

Thompson said that he ran a 4.56-second 40-yard dash last summer, to go along with a 30” standing vertical jump.

He said that he completed 65% of his pass attempts last season, while throwing for 2385 yards and 24 TDs against just 6 interceptions. He also rushed for 480 yards and 10 TDs. He said that all of his rushing TDs were on designed runs.

Thompson has unofficial visits planned over the next few weeks to Kansas State, Iowa State, Wake Forest, Oklahoma State, and Arkansas. He said that he may re-visit Missouri in April.

He said that if Missouri offers, he and his family would evaluate the Missouri offer along with his other offers.

Thompson is planning to make a decision in June or July.

“I’m going to sit down with my family and try to decide which school would be the best for me,” explained Thompson.
