ShowMeMizzou.com spoke with 2016 QB prospect Zack Weatherly 6’2” 180 Nashville (TN) Christ Presbyterian Academy about his unofficial visit to Missouri for the Tigers’ recent Junior Day, and the current status of his recruitment.
“It was awesome!” said Weatherly, speaking of his unofficial visit to Missouri for Junior Day. “I really enjoyed it. I felt like they really took time to show me around and do all that stuff. So, I loved it! I loved it! It was my favorite (school).”
“Missouri’s really been good to me,” explained Weatherly. “Coach Kendall Bradley and Coach Henson were the ones who showed me around. I love them both! The thing I like about it is the (Missouri) coaches remind me a lot of our coaches at CPA. It made me feel like home.”
The very athletic Weatherly is a two-year starter at QB for the Lions. This past season, he completed 69% of his passes and threw for 29 TDs against just 3 interceptions as he led the Lions to an undefeated (15-0) season and a Class 3A state championship.
Weatherly is a sprinter and jumper for CPA’s track team. He won the state championship as a sophomore in the high jump with a jump of 6’4” and has posted a personal best of 6’8”. He’s posted a 44’ triple jump, to go along with an 11.1-second 100 meters. He’s run a 4.6-second 40-yard dash.
“I’m trying to get down into the 10s,” said Weatherly, referring to his 100 meter times.
He also said that he hopes to run in the 4.5s in the 40-yard dash. Weatherly said that although he’s viewed by most as a pocket passer, he is comfortable with running the zone read play.
“I love to run (the football),” explained Weatherly. “We run the zone read play a lot. Most of my (running) touchdowns come off of that.”
So far, Weatherly has received offers from Illinois State and Mercer.
Weatherly said that Coach Washington has stopped by CPA a few times, and that he’s also been speaking with the Missouri QB coach. The athletic two-way player said that he's been trying to add size to his 6'2" frame. He also said that Missouri wants to see him in camp.
“Missouri really wants me to come to camp,” explained Weatherly. “I’ll probably come to a Missouri one day camp in June……………………………………. I think they just want to see how I throw.”
Weatherly said that he expects a Missouri coach will come to see him later this spring.
It sounds like Weatherly is one of Missouri’s top QB targets. He said that once Missouri offers, “the chances are really high” that he would go ahead and commit to Missouri.
