Mathews Takes In Missouri Visit

Tigers receive an unofficial visit from Florida standout.

Late last week, Missouri offer and 2016 CB prospect Armunz Mathews 5’11” 190 Tallahassee (FL) North Florida Christian traveled northward to take some unofficial visits, stopping off at Missouri to check out the Tigers. After he returned home, he spoke with me about his Missouri visit, and he also talked about his interest in the Tigers.

“It was great!” Mathews said of the Missouri visit. “It was very good…………………………………… I liked the coaches. They’ve got a great coaching staff. And, I mean, it just feels pretty good. It feels good.”

Missouri was the final stop on a northern tour for the current South Florida commit that had also included Middle Tennessee State, Indiana, and Wisconsin.

Mathews said that he holds “twenty-seven” offers, including offers from Alabama State, Appalachian State, Arizona, Army, Charlotte, Colorado State, East Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Florida International, Georgia Southern, Indiana, Kent State, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Marshall, Massachusetts, Middle Tennessee State, South Alabama, South Florida, Southern Miss, Temple, Towson, Troy, Utah, and Wisconsin, in addition to Missouri.

“The Missouri offer means a lot,” explained Mathews, who identified Josh Henson as his primary recruiter with Missouri. “They play big-time football. It’s the SEC!”

Mathews reports a personal best of 4.38 seconds in the 40-yard dash, to go along with a 38” standing vertical, and a 4.15-second 5-10-5 shuttle.

Mathews indicated that for now, he’s still committed to USF.

“When I take a few of my official visits, then I’ll know for sure,” explained Mathews, talking about whether he’ll remain committed to USF.

Mathews named Indiana, Missouri, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and Wisconsin as schools that he’s considering, and where he’ll likely take official visits. He anticipates that Oklahoma and South Carolina are going to offer.

Mathews said that he’s planning to take an official visit to Missouri either October 10th, or November 5th. He wants his parents to come with him.

Mathews said that he feels that he’s a high priority for Missouri.
