Ronnie Perkins woke up on Thursday morning to some big news.
A Class of 2018 defensive lineman at University City (Mo.) High School, Perkins received his fifth scholarship offer — from the University of Missouri.
“I was always told it would happen I just had to be patient and the day would come,” said Perkins, who was told of the offer from his father.
A 6-foot-3, 255-pound defensive end — he said he plans to get down to 240 before his junior season so he can play tight end also — Perkins had previously received offers from Memphis, Miami (OH), Bowling Green and Illinois State.
This offer is special because his older brother, Ronnell Perkins, is a redshirt freshman safety with the Tigers. But it doesn’t necessarily mean the younger Perkins is ready to commit.
“This offer means a lot but I’m still going to take time and evaluate every school who recruits me,” he said.
As of Thursday morning, Perkins had yet to talk to his brother about the latest development in the recruiting process.
“But I expect to have a long conversation with him today,” Perkins said.
