Bester, who announced his commitment on his Twitter account, also had scholarship offers from Jackson State, Florida A&M and Southeast Missouri State.
“I love the school, I love the coaching staff and my parents fell in love with it when they came on the visit with me,” Bester said. “I felt like it was a good fit and they told me how they were going to use me in their offense. So I thought it was a perfect fit for myself.”
How are they planning to use the Class of 2017 playmaker?
“They are going to use me like as a scatback,” Bester said, “get me in the open field with quick passes and give me handoffs out of the backfield — stuff like that.”
As a junior, in 2015, Bester rushed for a team-high 1,246 yards, averaging 9.6 yards per carry, and 18 touchdowns. He finished with 1,337 total yards and 21 touchdowns as Althoff went 13-1 and finished as the runner-up in Illinois Class 4A.
As a sophomore, in 2014, Bester racked up 592 total yards (543 rushing, 49 receiving) and seven touchdowns in 11 games.
