Nathaniel Peat wasn’t expecting the news he received on Wednesday.
Peat, a 5-foot-8, 170-pound running back at Columbia (Mo.) Rock Bridge, received his first scholarship offer from the hometown Missouri Tigers.
It was quite the surprise for Peat, a Class of 2019 prospect who has yet to play his first varsity game. He’s followed the Tigers closely over the years and said he attends every home game.
The scholarship offer also came from former Rock Bridge head coach A.J. Ofodile, who left that position a few months ago to become Missouri’s director of football recruiting. Ofodile played at Mizzou.
That made it even more special, Peat said.
