The University of Missouri basketball team’s tour of Italy has already produced some positive results.
The Tigers improved to 3-0 during the trip with their 81-52 victory over Vincenza Select on Friday.
“I told the team to focus on how they play as a group throughout this trip and that really showed up tonight in Vicenza,” Mizzou coach Kim Anderson said in a press release. “We next head to Milan looking to finish the tour strong against the Kosovo National Team on Saturday before traveling home all day Monday.”
Sophomore guard Terrence Phillips led the Tigers with a team-high 17 points on 6-of-9 shooting, including three 3-pointers, and had seven assists and five steals.
Freshman forward Willie Jackson recorded a double-double with 12 points and a team-high 11 rebounds. Freshman guard Frankie Hughes scored 12 points, including three 3-pointers, and sophomore guard Cullen VanLeer added 10 points and three 3-pointers.
The Tigers made nine of 19 3-point attempts (47.4 percent) and shot 44.3 percent (31 of 70) from the field overall.
