Daniel Parker has been a busy guy the past few weeks.
“They’ve been crazy,” Parker told BlackAndGoldIllustrated.com. “Talking to some new coaches. Interacting with student sections and fans have been wild. Plus just coming off some great wins with my high school. Everything has really been going good for me recently.”
The most recent college trip was to Missouri, where Parker made an early verbal commitment this summer but then de-committed a few weeks ago.
“It was fun,” Parker said of watching the Tigers’ 28-27 loss to Georgia on Saturday night. “It was good to see a bunch of coaches that I am really close to.”
Parker named assistant coach Andy Hill, the primary recruiter for the Kansas City area, head coach Barry Odom, defensive line coach Jackie Shipp and defensive coordinator DeMontie Cross.
The visit was also the first for Parker to Missouri since his de-commitment.
“They basically just told me that they know when all is said and done they will keep me on the right track,” he said. “So they were cool about it.”
What was the highlight of his trip Missouri?
“For me, really, it was watching Charles Harris do what he does best,” Parker said. “He just tears it up. I just like to watch him play. He’s a freak athlete.”
Parker has had different takeaways from his recent visits.
What was the highlight when he visited Iowa?
“For Iowa I would have to say the student section, like the fan base,” Parker said. “They have some loyal fans. Like everybody comes out to the game and the student section was really interacting with me, talking to me, and it just made me feel like they want me there.”
And at Arkansas?
“Arkansas, with it being the first time I’ve ever been there, it kind of opened my eyes a little bit,” Parker said. “They have a nice weight room and some good coaches there. They have some big kids there, too. Arkansas, they have some big kids down there.”
Parker plans on heading back to Arkansas soon and also has another trip scheduled.
He said he’ll be at Arkansas on Oct. 8 when the Razorbacks host Alabama and then at Notre Dame on Oct. 15 when the Fighting Irish host Stanford.
That will give Parker a chance to see even more from schools he is considering. After making an early commitment, followed be a de-commitment, the junior defensive lineman is just trying to learn as much as he can about the schools recruiting him.
“I don’t plan on making a decision anytime soon,” Parker said.
