After a bye week, Joshuah Bledsoe and his Dekaney (Houston, Texas) High School squad returned to action on Saturday night and snapped a three-game losing streak with a 35-0 win at Nimitz High School (Houston).
Bledsoe came up big for the Wildcats with three touchdowns — two rushing, one fumble recovery return.
Estes completed 13 of 20 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns and ran for 33 yards on four carries as East St. Louis, the No. 1 team in the STLhighschoolsports.com large-schools rankings, improved to 5-0.
De Soto was coming off back-to-back losses to Cedar Hill, but improved to 4-0 on the season. The Eagles racked up 394 yards of total offense, including 295 through the air. QB Shawn Robinson threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third.
Southwest, which was off the previous weekend, fell to 2-2 on the season.
Carrollton (Ga.) High School and center Case Cook kept their undefeated season going with a 33-0 win at Woodland (Cartersville, Ga.) on Friday night.
The Trojans (4-0) host Rome, Ga., next Friday.
After avoiding an upset last week Whitehaven High School (Memphis, Tenn.) and linebacker Aubrey Miller rolled over Houston High School 40-3 on Friday night.
Whitehaven (6-0) plays at rival White Station (4-2) next Friday.
Middle linebacker Jamal Brooks and his Bessemer (Ala.) City High School squad improved to 4-2 on the season with a 29-14 win over Wenonah.
After earning their first win of the season the previous week, wide receiver Da'Ron Davis and his Lee’s Summit (Mo.) North squad lost their rivalry game, 55-28, against Lee’s Summit on Friday night.
Lee’s Summit North fell to 1-5 on the season.
Long snapper Adam Bay and his Desert Ridge (Ari.) squad continued their winning ways with a 52-14 win at Desert Mountain.
Desert Ridge (4-1) has now won four straight games.
Offensive lineman Larry Borom and his Brother Rice (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) team fell to Catholic Central (Novi, Mich.) 28-21 in two overtimes on Saturday night.
Brother Rice, which fell to 3-2 on the season, compiled 239 total yards of offense (149 passing, 90 rushing) in the loss.
Ben Davis (Indianapolis, Ind.) High School offensive lineman Pompey Coleman is out for the season after suffering a broken leg in his team’s second game.
CLASS OF 2018
Junior defensive lineman Josh Smith and his Landry-Walker High School (New Orleans, La.) squad picked up their second win in as many weeks with a 40-10 victory against visiting Chalmette.
Landry-Walker (2-2) host Bonnabel (0-4) next week.
