Mizzou's Charles Harris Earns SEC Honor

Charles Harris was named the SEC defensive lineman of the week.

COLUMBIA, Mo. — University of Missouri defensive end Charles Harris has been selected as the Southeastern Conference defensive lineman of the week following his performance against Vanderbilt.

Harris, a redshirt junior, had a career-high nine tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and two quarterback hurries in the Tigers’ 26-17 win on Saturday.

A second-team All-SEC selection a year ago, Harris has put together two strong games the past two weeks, totaling 17 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, two quarterback hurries and one forced fumble.

The Kansas City native’s two sacks on Saturday give him eight for the season and 17 for his career, which ranks eighth on Missouri’s career list.

In 10 games this season, Harris has 52 tackles, including 11 for loss, eight sacks, six quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and one pass break-up. He leads Missouri in sacks, tackles for loss, quarterback hurries and forced fumbles and is tied for third in tackles.
